Rhino Medical is leading the charge seeking experienced Nurse Practitioners or Physician Assistants for a Hospitalist locum tenens assignment at a major regional acute-care referral center in Akron, Ohio. This opportunity supports a large, well-structured hospital medicine program with strong specialty backup, high-acuity exposure, and excellent cross-discipline collaboration.

Assignment Snapshot

- Nights: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM (Primary Need)
- APPs exclusively cover night cross-coverage (no day/swing APP shifts)
- EMR: EPIC
- Credentialing: 60–90 days | Expedited board approval available for clean files
Hospital Medicine Program Details- Total Hospital Beds: 500
- Day Providers: 11
- Swing Provider: 1
- Night Providers: 2
- APP Coverage: Nights only (cross coverage)
Census & Admissions- Average Day Census: 210
- Average Night Census: 160
- Night Admissions: 10–12 per shift on average
APP Role at Night:
- Cross coverage, urgent patient needs
- Support night admissions team
- No procedures required
- Minimal to no APP supervision required by MDs
Clinical Responsibilities- Cross-cover hospitalized patients throughout the night
- Support admissions team as needed
- Evaluate changes in patient condition and respond accordingly
- Communicate with the ICU team for escalations (ICU runs codes)
- Document all encounters in EPIC EMR
- Collaborate with attending Hospitalists, Intensivists, nursing, and specialty teams
No procedures required:No lines, no intubations, no paracentesis, no thoracentesis — this is a non-procedural APP Hospitalist role.
Specialty Backup AvailableFull complement of inpatient subspecialties, including:
- Cardiology, Pulmonology, Neurology
- General Surgery, Vascular Surgery, Orthopedics
- Hem/Onc, Nephrology, GI
- Intensivists, Radiology, IR, Psychiatry, Urology
This is a fully supported environment — no solo coverage.
Candidate Requirements- NP or PA with active national certification (NCCPA / NCCNP)
- Hospitalist or Inpatient APP experience required
- BLS + ACLS
- Comfortable managing high census, cross-coverage, and acute changes overnight
- OH license preferred; open to licensing candidates
