Job Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring L&D-specific experience, working nights with a Level 2A Nursery patient population.
Responsibilities
- Work in the Labor & Delivery unit with 8 beds
- Patient population includes laboring and postpartum mothers, antepartum, newborns, infants under 28 days old, and Level 2A Nursery patients
- Care may include sick babies and occasional post-op gyn-surgical or mastectomy patients
- Laboring nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:2; couplets ratio is 1:3-4
- 12-hour night shifts with every other weekend required
- Three scheduled holidays and one on-call holiday per rotation
- Floats required to Med/Surg unit as CNA help and within scope
- Uses Epic for charting
- Hospital provides scrubs
- Perform assessments and interventions for laboring, postpartum, antepartum, and neonatal patients
- Care for sick infants in a Level 2A Nursery adjacent to the nurse's station
- Support available from charge nurse, resource nurse, hospitalist, RT, and lab services
- Orientation typically provided and adjusted based on experience, generally 1 week for travelers
- Free parking is provided
- First-time travelers with L&D experience are welcome to apply
- Time off requests are allowed prior to schedule posting, with two priority requests per year
Requirements
- Active SD or compact RN license required
- BLS, ACLS, and NRP certifications required
- Completion of a nursing program approved by a board of nursing
- Minimum of 1 year of recent L&D nursing experience required
- Strong EFM interpretation and intervention, as well as adult and neonatal assessment skills required
- Epic EMR experience preferred
- Candidates must live more than 100 miles from the facility
- Permanent staff must wait at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
