American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a night shift ICU position requiring a ND or compact license and advanced certifications.
Responsibilities- Work in a 4-bed ICU in an acute care setting
- Night shifts, 12 hours in length, with weekend and holiday shifts as needed
- Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:2-3 depending on patient acuity
- Patient population includes DKA, sepsis, respiratory failure, cardiac, medical detox, and patients with arterial lines and CVP monitoring
- RNs required to titrate drips and interpret cardiac monitor strips
- Uses Meditech EMR system
- RNs float to Med/Surg or ER (for 1:1 assignments) as needed
- No nurse aides/patient care techs on the unit
- No charge nurse assigned; ER oversees ICU
- Required to wear navy scrubs
- Three 12-hour orientation shifts provided
- Responsibilities include care and management of a variety of critically ill patients and titration of multiple ICU drips
- RNs must be proactive, coachable, motivated, and effective team players
- Holiday and weekend coverage assigned as needed
- Floating required to other units as specified
- Required to read and interpret their own monitor strips
- No first-time travelers accepted
- Up to 7 days of time off may be requested up front; additional time off not approved
- Active ND or compact RN license at time of application
- Minimum 1 year of ICU RN experience
- Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, PALS, and TNCC, TCAR, or trauma patient care experience
- Must present two references: one supervisor from the last 12 months, and one peer or supervisor from the last 3 years
- Must provide a copy of driver’s license
- Candidate must reside at least 50 miles from the facility
- May not be employed in any capacity with facilities associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI or Dignity, within the past year
- Must be able to pass required fit testing for respiratory protection (facial hair restrictions apply)
