Job Details:
• Work in Progressive Care Unit (PCU) with focus on renal/nephrology patients
• Patient ratios: 1:5 (may flex to 1:6 on rare occasions)
• 1-2 years of nursing experience required
• 2 years of recent specialty experience required with renal transplant, PD catheter, hemodialysis, drains, TPN, wound care, diabetes encephalopathy, acute renal rejection, and thymo administration
• Must have full year of in-specialty experience within past 12 months with no employment gap greater than 90 days
• Weekend requirement: 8 weekend shifts in 6-week schedule period (combination of Friday/Saturday/Sunday)
• Holiday shifts and charge RN assignments as needed
• Required certifications: BLS, NIHSS
• 12 hours of orientation provided
• Float to other departments, units, and facilities as needed
• Must hold both Kansas and Missouri nursing licenses or compact licenses
• Required skills: cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, telemetry monitoring, rapid response teams, IV insulin protocols, pre/post hemodialysis management, accessing ports, blood product administration, central line care, PICC line management, heparin protocols, PCA, wound care/wound vac
• Preferred skills: CVA management, surgical drains, chest tubes, tracheostomy management, thymo titration
• Epic charting system experience required
• Navy scrubs required
• Maximum 7 days request time off allowed
• Guaranteed 3 shifts per 13-week contract
• Local candidates within 75-mile radius not accepted
• 2 references required from past year

The facility provides comprehensive medical services with specialized units including progressive care and renal services. The hospital maintains high standards of patient care with contracted dialysis services and follows specialized protocols for transplant patients, including 2:1 ratios for 48 hours post-transplant. The facility offers extensive interdisciplinary support including physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, and rapid response teams.
