Job Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg night shift position caring for adult and geriatric patients, with charge and float duties as needed.
Responsibilities
- Work in an inpatient hospital setting on a Medical Surgical unit
- Patient population includes adults and geriatrics
- Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:6
- Responsibilities may include floating to other units and charge duties as needed
- Schedule is night shifts (3x12 hours, 7:00 pm to 7:00 am), with option for 4x12 hour shifts
- Required to work every other weekend
- Must work at least one major holiday: Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, or Christmas Day
- May be asked to serve in a charge nurse capacity when needed
- 30-minute lunch breaks are required and cannot be skipped
- Patient care responsibilities include IV starts, wound care, and infection control procedures
- Open to local candidates who meet the radius rule
- Holiday coverage for at least one of the specified holidays is mandatory
Requirements
- Active AL or compact RN license required
- Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association required
- Recent experience with IV starts, isolation precautions, wound care, and wound vacs required
- Fit test required prior to start
- Level II trauma experience preferred
- NIHSS certification preferred
- Prior travel nursing experience preferred
- Must reside outside a 60-mile radius to be eligible as a traveler
