Job Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Med/Surg RN for a night shift position requiring at least 2 years of experience and recent Epic proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Work in a 41-bed hospital Med/Surg unit with post-surgical, UTI, sepsis, high fall risk, COPD, and CHF patients
• Night shift schedule: 12-hour shifts from 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM
• Staff to patient ratios are 1:6-7 on nights
• First to float within skillset and may float to nearby campuses with 2-hour notice; cross-campus floating is possible but uncommon during mid-shift
• Weekend requirement is three weekends per six-week schedule
• Holiday coverage required for every other holiday
• Uses Epic EMR; recent Epic experience required
• Teaching hospital setting with experienced leadership and CNA support
• May be required to precept students and new hires
• Requires candidates to be resilient, adaptable, and strong team players
• No COVID-19 vaccine required at this time, but this is subject to change
• Dress code prohibits scrubs with competing health system or agency logos
• Three unscheduled absences may result in termination

Requirements

• Active IN or compact RN license
• Current AHA BLS and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum of 2 years strong Med/Surg experience
• At least one prior travel assignment required
• Trauma level II experience required
• Recent experience with Epic EMR
• Proficiency with remote telemetry, chest tubes, NG/PEG tubes, straight cath/Foleys, ostomies, Heparin drips, blood administration, tracheostomy care, and PCA management
• Strong assessment and critical thinking skills required
• Must live more than 40 miles from the facility
