American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele assignment specializing in oncology patients, with telemetry skills and a valid OH or compact RN license required.
Responsibilities- Work in a Med/Surg Tele unit focused on medical oncology within a hospital setting
- Cares for adult and geriatric patients with various solid tumor cancers, including patients undergoing chemotherapy
- Staffing ratios are typically 1:4, with a maximum of 1:5
- Works three 12-hour shifts per week, with day (7:00-19:30) and night (19:00-7:30) shift options
- Weekend shifts are variable based on unit needs
- Self-scheduling requests are submitted prior to final schedule posting
- First week consists of orientation Monday through Friday during dayshift, followed by on-unit orientation with a preceptor
- Floating may be required to other MedSurg Oncology units
- Utilizes Epic EMR for charting
- Primary responsibilities include care for patients with all solid tumor cancers throughout their treatment journey, including chemotherapy and end-of-life care
- Team emphasizes infection prevention protocols and patient fall prevention
- First week of orientation is structured and followed by support from a unit preceptor
- Adheres to strict compliance deadlines for Ohio fingerprinting, which must be completed promptly after signing the contract
- Must submit any requested time off when initially applying for the position
- Local candidates are accepted at the same rate as travelers
- Former employees may apply if more than 6 months have passed since their last employment; current employees at Ohio State University hospital locations are ineligible
- Active OH or compact RN license required at time of consideration
- Minimum of 2 years recent RN experience
- BLS certification required
- Telemetry interpretation and monitoring skills required
- Completion of nursing education from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program required
- Previous travel nursing experience preferred
- Oncology experience preferred but not required
- ONS Chemo certification preferred
- Two professional references required, with at least one from a manager, director, or supervisor
