Roles & Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality, patient-centered labor and delivery nursing care in a 3-room Family Birth Center
  • Manage assignments with ratios ranging from 1:1 to 1:4 depending on acuity
  • Serve as Charge Nurse when assigned, coordinating patient care and staff communication
  • Perform neonatal care during C-sections with support from RT and anesthesia as needed
  • Float to MedSurg for tasking and cross-cover as unit needs arise
  • Document clinical care accurately in Cerner and participate in unit-based quality efforts
  • Maintain readiness for emergency interventions and collaborate with RT and pharmacy teams

Requirements

Qualifications

  • Active RN license in California (or compact license if applicable and accepted by facility)
  • Minimum 2 years of nursing experience (Labor & Delivery experience preferred)
  • Current BLS (AHA), NRP, and ACLS certifications
  • AWHONN Advanced Fetal Monitoring (AFM) certification required
  • COVID-19 vaccination required as part of submission
  • Charge nurse experience or demonstrated leadership skills preferred

Education

  • Active RN license (ADN or BSN). BSN is not required for submission but may be preferred by some candidates.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Proficient with Cerner electronic medical record/charting
  • Strong labor, delivery, and neonatal assessment skills
  • Competent in fetal monitoring and AWHONN AFM practices
  • Ability to prioritize in 1:1 to 1:4 ratio environments
  • Comfortable floating to MedSurg and adapting to different unit workflows
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and critical thinking under pressure
