Med/Surg RN Job Details – Shelby, NC

• Location: Shelby, North Carolina 28150
• Estimated Weekly Pay: $1570–$1680
• Healthcare Setting: 5E Surgical Unit, 32 beds (average census: 28)
• Position Type: Travel Registered Nurse (RN)
• Contract Length: 13 weeks (Start: 8/25/2025 – End: 11/22/2025)
• Shift: 12-hour night shifts (1845-0700), 36 hours/week
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 per week
• Weekend Rotation: Every other weekend
• Holiday Coverage: Work 75% of holidays during contract
• Floating: Required within region and scope of practice (paid travel time between facilities)
• Scrub Color: Navy
• Parking: Free on-site parking

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active RN license (Registered Nurse) – North Carolina or compact state
• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 18 months of recent Med/Surg or Telemetry RN experience
• Proficient in cardiac rhythm interpretation, non-titrating cardiac drips (Cardizem, Amiodarone), wound care, drain/tube management, PIV starts, and central line management
• Experience with EPIC EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Phillips monitors preferred
• Ability to float to other regional healthcare facilities as needed

Med/Surg RN Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to patients with diverse medical and surgical diagnoses (joint replacements, colon resections, gallbladder and appendectomy procedures, amputations, medical overflow, hip fractures, SBO, NG tubes)
• Monitor patient status and interpret cardiac rhythms
• Administer medications and manage non-titrating cardiac drips
• Perform wound care, drain and tube management, PIV starts, and central line management
• Collaborate with CNAs, charge nurses, phlebotomy, IV/VAT team, respiratory therapists, hospitalists, and intensivists
• Document patient care accurately using EPIC EMR
• Float to other nursing units or healthcare facilities within the region as required
• Participate in scheduled weekend and holiday rotations
