This position is for a Family Practice Physician or Nurse Practitioner on a 3-month contract with potential extension, providing medical care to 30-75 clients in a hospital setting. The role involves assessing and treating acute illnesses, injuries, follow-ups, and new admissions across all age groups, including children, with rotational weekend on-call duties. Compliance with regulatory standards, immunization, drug testing, fingerprinting, and facility-specific training is required, with a preference for experience in mental health or developmental disabilities care.
- Requesting one (1) Physician or Nurse practitioner to begin immediately
- 3 month contract with option to extend
- Will typically work 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM (Mon-Fri), but shift pattern is subject to change as determined by the Director to meet needs of the hospital
- Rotational weekend on call. Roughly 1 weekend a month for H&Ps since this campus is 24/7 for admissions
- Weekend call is on grounds for H & P only and time spent (rounded to 15 minutes) for any calls
- Oversee the medical care of the clients with a unit having 30-75 clients.
- Must be able to work with all age groups including children
- See approximately 5-15 patients per day for acute illness, injury or follow-up.
- Available for new admissions which have to be completed within 24 hours of admission
- Perform clinics in the morning
- Must comply with HHSC immunization requirements
- Must submit to HHSC required drug test
- Must submit to HHSC required fingerprinting
- Must complete facility and HHSC required training
- Must be able to pass (TIPS) - Treatment, Intervention and Protection Strategies
- Comply with facility Standard Operating Procedures to meet standards for accrediting agencies; specifically, Joint Commission guidelines, CMS Standards, NTSH Policy and Directives and HHSC Standards, Rules and Directives.
- Prefer experience treating those with mental health and/or developmental disabilities
- Completed a residency in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine
- Must be licensed by the State of Texas with no sanctions.
- Must have current registration certificates from the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) and the Texas Department of Public Safety Controlled Substance Board
- Must possess a National Provider Identified (NPI#) as defined by Medicare Part B.
- Copies of CPR certifications must be kept on file with DSSLC s Contracting office.
