American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Neuro ICU position requiring at least 1.5 years’ ICU experience and a NM or compact RN license.
Responsibilities- Work in a Neuro ICU within a hospital environment
- Patient population includes TBI, SAH, SDH, tumor resections, status epilepticus, and other neurologic disorders
- Typical nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:2
- Float may be required to other ICUs, PCU floors, ED, or PACU as needed
- Schedule may be 36 or 48 hours per week, with varied weekend requirements based on unit needs
- May be required to float and care for med-surg patients on occasion with higher ratios (such as 6:1)
- Possible reassignment to the Cardiothoracic ICU based on facility needs
- Block scheduling may be requested but is not guaranteed
- Uses Cerner EMR
- Responsibilities include monitoring and managing complex neurologic cases and neurosurgical post-op care
- Staff may need to interpret and manage dysrhythmias and care for patients with specialized equipment such as EVDs and CRRT
- Work in a Level I Trauma, academic teaching, and children’s hospital environment
- Required to wear black scrubs
- Parking is provided at no cost
- Requests for more than 7 days of time off require prior approval
- First-time travelers are accepted
- Active NM or compact RN license in hand or pending
- Minimum 1.5 years of Neuro ICU or critical care experience
- Current ACLS, BCLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Experience with EVDs, A-line, intubation, central lines, CRRT, post-op neuro care, post-TPA, post-thrombectomy care, and ICP monitoring
- COVID-19 vaccination required; religious and medical exemptions considered with appropriate documentation
- No local candidates within 75 miles accepted
