American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Neuro Rehab inpatient position in an acute level 1 trauma setting, requiring an AZ or compact RN license and recent trauma experience.
Responsibilities- Work in a 52-bed Neuro Rehab unit within an acute hospital
- Primary patient population includes neuro cases such as TBI, CVA, brain tumor resection, and transplant patients
- RN patient ratio is 1:6
- 12-hour night shifts with 4 weekend shifts in each 4-week period
- Required to work at least 2 out of 4 major holidays as part of core rotation
- Assignment includes floating to any Med Surg unit as needed
- Uses Cerner EMR system
- Onsite interdisciplinary team rounds daily, with three rehab physicians and support from SWAT RN, 24/7 RT, and pharmacy
- Floor-specific orientation consists of 2 shifts
- Daily responsibilities include neuro rehab nursing care, IV therapy, complex wound management, restraints, and patient/family communication
- High patient and family interaction is expected, with focus on partnership of care
- Scrub color is slate grey
- SIMs Lab testing is pass/fail and breaking sterile field can result in dismissal
- Must maintain natural hair color and no facial piercings; men must be clean shaven for fit testing
- Busy periods typically occur between 6-9 am and 6:30-9 pm
- Average patient length of stay is 19-21 days
- Holiday coverage is required according to core rotation schedule
- Returning candidates are ineligible if employed directly by the health system in the past year
- Active AZ or compact RN license required at time of consideration
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience with demonstrated level 1 trauma experience
- Current BLS certification required
- Strong Med Surg background is required; prior rehab experience is preferred
- Must pass a pre-assignment dysrhythmia exam (2 attempts allowed) and a day 1 sterile technique SIMs Lab skills test for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes
- Experience with Cerner EMR is required
- Must meet a 50-mile residence distance from the facility, as shown by driver’s license
- Candidates must not have been directly employed by the health system within the past year
