Job Details:
• Work rotating shifts with weekend coverage required
• Minimum 2 years of NICU experience required
• Travel experience mandatory
• 36 hours of orientation provided
• Required certifications: BLS and NRP
• Epic charting system experience required (no exceptions)
• BSN preferred
• Must have Virginia or compact state nursing license in hand at time of submittal
• Must adhere to natural nail policy
• Float within scope of practice if needed
• Care for neonates from edge of viability to discharge preparation
• Provide specialized care for premature and critically ill infants
• Skills include ventilator management, central line care, developmental care, phototherapy, and various specialized procedures
• Work with interdisciplinary team including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, and pharmacy
• Complete required modules during orientation week on VCU Learning Exchange
• One year gap required before returning as traveler if previously employed at facility

This academic medical center features a state-of-the-art 40-bed Level IV NICU that is the largest in Central Virginia. The facility specializes in caring for premature and seriously ill infants requiring surgical and medical intervention. The Single-Family Room NICU design provides comprehensive care from the most critical cases to infants preparing for discharge, with full interdisciplinary support services and advanced medical technology.
