Are you a dedicated Gastroenterologist seeking an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact in a hospital-based setting? We are seeking a highly skilled LOCUM PHYSICIAN to provide exceptional inpatient gastroenterology services at Longmont United Hospital. Position Overview:
This is a hospital-based locum position, primarily focused on inpatient care with no clinic responsibilities. The provider will handle endoscopy procedures, GI bleed evaluations, and general GI problem assessments within a trauma Level III setting. The role requires 24-hour call coverage, with shifts from 7 a.m. to 7 a.m., including holiday and night call responsibilities. Starting July 1, 2026, ongoing coverage is anticipated, with initial single-day coverage in May. The position is integral to maintaining seamless care for an adult and adolescent patient population in a 60-bed facility. Required Skills:
- Medical degree from an accredited institution and active Colorado medical licensure or IMLC
- Board certification or eligibility in Gastroenterology
- Proven experience in endoscopy, GI bleed management, and inpatient GI procedures
- Ability to respond promptly within 30 minutes during call hours
- Proficiency with EPIC EMR system
- Excellent clinical judgment and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and in a team
Nice to Have Skills:
- Experience working in trauma or Level III hospital settings
- Prior telemedicine or virtual EMR training proficiency
- Additional procedural skills related to advanced GI interventions
- Bilingual abilities in Spanish or other languages
Preferred Education and Experience:
- MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school
- Minimum of 2 years outpatient or inpatient GI experience
- Recent experience with EPIC EMR
- Previous hospital-based or trauma center experience
Other Requirements:
- 24-hour call shift availability with a 30-minute response time
- Willingness to stay at the designated hotel in Longmont when required
- Ability to complete EMR credentialing, training, and documentation before first shift
- Travel is local; no international travel required unless self-arranged
- Submission of a recent professional photo for badge creation
- Completion of credentialing within 30 days; full privileges in 120 days
