CHEP is looking for a motivated Plant Operations Supervisor, 2nd shift, to join our team in Temple, TX!As a Plant Operations Supervisor, you will be responsible for assisting the Plant Manager in managing total plant operations and delivering superior customer satisfaction by driving results and exceeding expectations in the key areas of safety, service, quality and cost.
Key Responsibilities May Include:
- Provide hands-on leadership by mentoring, coaching, and guiding employees, addressing employee relations issues, and fostering a positive and productive work environment.
- Lead and enhance safety performance on shift, promoting a proactive safety culture through training, accident prevention, and rehabilitation programs, ensuring compliance with safety standards.
- Manage shift maintenance activities, resolving equipment breakdowns in coordination with the maintenance team to maintain uninterrupted plant operations.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives on shift, implementing best practices to enhance efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness across end to end operations.
- Monitor and manage the plant's operational costs and yield, working closely with the Plant Manager to optimize performance and contribute to the overall plant objectives.
- Address performance and attendance matters in collaboration with HR, ensuring that all plant staff meet operational expectations.
- Ensure full compliance with CHEP procedures and work instructions, ensuring tasks are completed accurately and in line with company standards and operational goals.
Key Accountabilities – What you will do
Supervise the work of all production employees – oversees production and shipping schedules based on availability of raw and finished goods.
Provide hands-on leadership as a supervisor, responsible for mentoring and coaching all employees and working through employee relations issues.
Support plant administration to ensure compliance to established policies.
Responsible, in consultation with Plant Manager, for the cost and yield performance of the Plant in partnership with the overall P&L of the Plant.
Support cost control initiatives and process control within the Plant.
Review operations activities, including local transportation activities, to maintain compliance with all Federal, State and local laws (OSHA, DOL, DOJ, EPA, FD)
Drive Safety improvements (Zero Harm) across the Plant
Ensure the consistent execution of all SOPs throughout the Plant in accordance with the PMS
Experience – What you will bring
Prior experience in a plant supervisory role in an engineering or manufacturing environment
Familiarity with private fleet management/transportation is helpful
Strong customer focus orientation
Strong people management capability including non-exempt production workforce
Demonstrated success in delivering strong employee relations
Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally
Experience managing safety performance and programs
Understanding of supply chain practices and metrics and data analysis
Familiarity with Lean Thinking concepts and practices

Compensation Statement: The salary range for this position is $61,680 to $84,810 per year. Salary ranges provided take into account a wide variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications, geographic differentials and other business and organizational needs. Therefore, actual amounts offered may be higher or lower than the range provided.
