Setting: Inpatient Rehabilitation / Acute Care
We are seeking an experienced Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) for an inpatient rehabilitation contract assignment. This role requires strong acute care experience and the ability to independently perform Modified Barium Swallow (MBS) studies in a radiology setting without direct radiologist supervision. The SLP will support inpatient rehab patients, with potential referrals to skilled nursing and outpatient settings as needed.
Key Responsibilities- Perform comprehensive speech, language, cognitive, and swallowing evaluations
- Independently conduct Modified Barium Swallow (MBS) studies in radiology
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans for inpatient rehab patients
- Provide dysphagia management and patient/family education
- Document evaluations and treatments accurately and timely per department standards
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary rehabilitation and medical teams
- Float to another facility if needed based on census and staffing levels

- EPIC electronic medical record (EMR) for inpatient documentation
- Meditech computerized documentation (inpatient)
- Paper documentation for outpatient services
- Minimum 2 years of Speech Therapy experience, preferably in rehab hospital or SNF settings
- Demonstrated ability to independently complete MBS studies
- Strong clinical judgment and ability to work independently
- Active Hawaii rehabilitation license in Speech Therapy (required by assignment start)
- Candidates without an active license must apply upon offer acceptance
- BLS/BCLS required
- ASHA certification required
- Scrubs or professional attire per facility dress code policies
- EMR documentation training provided
- Orientation to rehabilitation department workflows and expectations included
- Must arrive the Thursday prior to assignment start to complete employee health requirements on Friday
- Bilingual skills not required
