Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an ER Holding position requiring advanced certifications and strong telemetry and critical care skills.

Responsibilities

• Work in the ER Holding unit caring for pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients
• Unit patient ratio is 1:4
• Night shift schedule with three 12-hour shifts per week, 19:00 – 7:30
• Patients present with a variety of acute medical issues requiring advanced monitoring
• Telemetry, PCU/stepdown care, and dysrhythmia management required
• Uses Epic for documentation
• Responsibilities include stepdown-level patient care, blood product administration, wound vac, and renal failure management
• Participation in the Rapid Response Team as needed
• Locals are accepted at the same rate as travelers
• All candidates must complete Ohio fingerprinting promptly after accepting the assignment
• Time off requests must be included at the time of application and built into the contract
• First time travelers are accepted
• No 30-day break required between assignments to change representation except for Sterile Processing Techs

Requirements

• Active RN license (OH state or compact) in hand at time of consideration
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Current BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and PALS certifications required
• Experience with telemetry, dysrhythmia management, rapid response, tracheostomy management, IV insulin and heparin protocols, cardiac and vasoactive drips including titration, and non-invasive airway management (CPAP/BIPAP, oxygen) required
• Proficiency with Epic EMR documentation required
• Education from an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program required
• Two professional references required, with at least one from a supervisor or manager
• Must have been away from the facility for at least 6 months if previously employed at the location
• Current employees at Ohio State University hospitals are not eligible
