A Board Certified Gastroenterologist is required to provide comprehensive adult inpatient and outpatient care in a hospital setting, including 24-hour call coverage. The role involves performing advanced gastrointestinal diagnostic and therapeutic procedures such as ERCP, endoscopy, biopsies, and management of GI emergencies. The position mandates expertise in multiple specialized procedures and requires an active Virginia Medical License and vaccination compliance.
Shift: 24-hour call
Clinical Setting:
- Hospital call coverage (including weekends)
- Mix of adult, hospital, and clinic/outpatient care
- Lab & X-ray onsite
- EMR: Epic
Provider must be able to perform ERCP (no exceptions).

Esophageal Dilation & Manometry
Esophageal Manometry Interpretation
Small Bowel Biopsy
Lower GI Endoscopy
Sigmoidoscopy
Colonoscopy
Liver Biopsy
Sengstaken/Blakemore Tube insertion/management
Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS)
Upper GI Endoscopy (diagnostic & therapeutic):
Biopsy
Foreign body removal
Control of bleeding (cautery/laser)
Injection/Banding of Varices
ERCP
PEG tube placement
Requirements:
- Board Certified Gastroenterologist Required
- Active Virginia Medical License Required
- Flu Vaccine Required
- COVID Vaccine Highly Preferred
- Must be available for the full shift block Required
