American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a night shift Telemetry Observation Unit position requiring an active AZ or compact RN license and current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications.
Responsibilities- Work in a 16-bed Observation Unit, which functions as an extension of the ER
- Patient population includes chest pain rule out MI, post heart cath without sheaths, stable pre-CABG, and post-interventional procedures
- No ventilators, bipap, or cpap used in the unit
- Night shifts with a requirement to work every 3rd weekend
- Possible floating to any tele or medsurg floor and to a sister facility
- Cerner is the charting system used in the unit and Cerner experience is preferred
- Two-day floor-specific orientation provided
- Navy blue scrubs are required for this position
- Charge nurse coverage is available on the unit 24/7, and PCTs are staffed according to census
- RT and pharmacy support are available on site 24/7
- Duties include monitoring patients post heart cath, stable pre-CABG, and managing non-titration antiarrhythmics
- No alcohol withdrawal patients unless more than 3 days out
- Holiday coverage is rotated with core staff
- Travelers who fail required testing are not eligible for rehire within the region for six months
- Candidates who have been employed in a permanent position at a CommonSpirit facility within the past 12 months are not eligible
- Active AZ or compact RN license required at time of application; pending licenses not accepted
- Minimum 2 years of recent telemetry experience within the past 6 months
- Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Must provide a current driver's license for verification
- Must live at least 50 miles from the facility
- Two references required: one supervisor from the past 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years
- Successful completion of a dysrhythmia exam within 24-48 hours of offer, with only two attempts allowed
- Must pass a Sim lab on day one of orientation
