American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Long Term Acute Care Med/Surg night shift position requiring an active IL license and BLS certification.
Responsibilities- Work in a Long Term Acute Care Med/Surg unit within an acute care setting
- 10-bed unit with a typical nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5
- Patient population includes respiratory failure, post-surgical, wound care, IV antibiotics, post CVA, post trauma, and cardiac cases
- Experience required with PEG tube care/feedings, CVC/PICC/Midline usage, and care for tracheostomy patients
- Nurses are required to titrate Heparin drips
- Respiratory equipment (vents, CPAP, BiPAP, high flow) managed by RT, but troubleshooting expected
- Housewide telemetry packs monitored by Monitor Techs stationed in the ICU
- 12-hour night shifts (7:00pm–7:30am)
- Every other weekend and holiday rotation required
- Occasional floating to ICU and Acute Rehab units
- EMR system used is Epic
- Work with a dedicated team including a House Supervisor and patient care techs
- Scrubs required; any color permitted, OSF approved t-shirts only
- Orientation includes 12 hours of classroom plus two shifts on the unit
- Holiday and weekend coverage required as part of rotation
- No current call or standby requirements, but may be subject to change
- COVID vaccination is not required for this position
- Local rates apply for candidates residing within 50 miles
- Active IL RN license required at time of consideration
- Minimum of 1 year prior RN experience
- Current BLS (AHA) certification required
- ACLS certification preferred but not required
- Prior experience with Med/Surg and long term acute care preferred
- Ability to titrate drips and manage complex medical equipment
- Completion of classroom and unit-specific orientation with a preceptor
