Opportunity:
Registered Nurse - PCU
Job Details:
• 13-week assignment working 3x12 hour night shifts from 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM
• Weekend requirement of 6 weekend shifts in a 6-week scheduling block
• Current patient ratios are 1:5 for PCU (goal is 1:4)
• Float occasionally to other PCU units and potentially Med Surg as needed
• Work in a 20-bed telemetry PCU specializing in hospitalist service patients
• Care for patients with pulmonary and other medicine-related illnesses
• Unit can accommodate 2 ventilated patients and has 2 vent-capable beds for chronic trach patients
• Manage patients with chest tubes, IV drips (Cardizem, Heparin, Insulin, dopamine, dobutamine, Amiodarone, Nitro, Bumex, Lasix), trach care
• Work with oxygen modes including CPAP and BiPAP
• Remote telemetry monitoring with monitors remaining on units
• 32 hours of orientation required
• Required to work at least 1 holiday per 13-week assignment (2 holidays during winter season)
• Minimum 1 year of experience required with patient ratio experience of 5
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
• Epic charting system experience required
• Skills needed: Telemetry, PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, rapid response/code teams, blood product administration, central and peripheral line care, cardiac drips management

This healthcare facility operates a specialized 20-bed telemetry progressive care unit that focuses on hospitalist service patients with complex medical conditions. The facility provides comprehensive interdisciplinary support including physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and transportation services. The unit serves as an alternate location for renal and other medical patients, maintaining high standards of care with resident and mid-level providers available in-house.
