The Injection Molding Tool Maker is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and setting up molds and dies used in injection molding production. Key duties include performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting tooling issues, operating machine shop equipment, and collaborating with engineering to improve processes. Applicants require at least five years of tool making experience, mechanical aptitude, and the ability to read blueprints and handle precision measurements.
Our client is searching for an experienced Injection Molding Tool Maker to work in the Fitchburg, MA manufacturing facility. The individual will support manufacturing by maintaining and repairing production tooling, including punches, dies, and rotary equipment. Responsibilities include cataloging, organizing, and performing general and preventive maintenance, knife sharpening, tooling setup, and expediting repairs. This is a full time, permanent and direct hire opportunity.
Shift: Monday - Friday 7am-3pm
Pay Rate: $35.30/hr
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare, clean, repair, and maintain molds and dies for injection molding.
Perform preventive maintenance and troubleshoot tooling issues.
Operate mills, lathes, EDMs, grinders, and other shop equipment for tool and die work.
Read blueprints, follow written/verbal instructions, and complete maintenance documentation.
Measure accurately using calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
Support tooling conversions and production changeovers.
Work safely, report incidents immediately, and maintain a clean, organized work area through 5S practices.
Collaborate with engineering and management to identify improvements.
Knowledge of hot runner manifolds, electrical testing, and rewiring heaters/thermocouples is a plus.
Qualifications:
Minimum 5 years of tool making experience
Machine shop experience (milling, EDM, lathes, grinding).
Ability to read blueprints and perform precise measurements and calculations.
Mechanically inclined, safety-minded, and able to lift up to 50 lbs (occasionally 100 lbs with assistance).
CNC EDM and Class 101 mold maintenance experience preferred.
