Opportunity:
Registered Nurse - PACU
Job Details:
• Work 3x12 hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
• No weekends, no call, and no holidays required
• Guaranteed 3 shifts per 13-week contract
• Patient ratios: 2:1 (preop may be 1:3)
• Float required to ICU, main PACU, PCU, MS, and ER Holding
• 40 hours of orientation provided
• Must have at least 2-3 years Level 1 ICU experience required
• Open to reviewing candidates with Level 2 ICU experience
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS
• CCRN and TNCC preferred
• Must pass Relias EKG exam
• Navy blue scrubs required
• Epic charting system experience preferred
• Must reside at least 75 miles from facility
• Care for adults, adolescents, and geriatric patients in Level 1 trauma center
• Recover patients from neurosurgery, ENT, plastics, orthopedics, thoracic, vascular, trauma, general, colorectal, GYN, urological, electrophysiology, interventional radiology, and transplant surgeries
• Critical care experience required for patients with artificial airways, invasive monitoring (including ICP), transfusions, and vasoactive drugs
• Night shift must learn preoperative patient work-up
• Skills required: dysrhythmia recognition/management, blood product administration, phlebotomy, starting IVs, IV vasopressors, ICP monitoring, care of ventilated patients
• Experience with drains, vasoactive drips, mechanical ventilation, and recovery from general anesthesia required
• Must have experience with post cardiac surgery, endarterectomy, lobectomy, chest trauma, Ex-lap and splenectomy, and trauma patients

This major academic medical center is a Magnet-designated teaching hospital and Level I trauma center with 1,273 staffed beds. The facility operates a high-acuity PACU with 38 patient bays that remains open 24/7, serving an average daily census of 70-90 patients. The PACU area handles complex post-operative patients with 80% being admitted to the hospital after procedures. The facility features comprehensive specialty support services including respiratory services, interpretation services, and rapid response teams, with interdisciplinary collaboration throughout patient care.
