American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardio Thoracic ICU position, requiring a VA or compact license and proficiency in Epic.
Responsibilities- Work in the Cardio Thoracic ICU of an acute care hospital using a universal bed model for both ICU and stepdown patients
- Adult post-op cardiac and thoracic surgery population including CABG, acute coronary, STEMI, NSTEMI, and CHF cases
- Patient ratios range from 1:1 to 1:2
- 8-bed unit with equipment including Hemosphere, Quantum, and Accuryn
- Schedule involves 4x12 or 3x12 hour night shifts, every other weekend, holidays as needed, and floating to other units if required
- No block scheduling accommodations available
- Responsibilities include managing arterial and central lines, titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips, ventilator management, administering blood products, and caring for post-cardiac surgery and stepdown patients
- Infection prevention and strict adherence to PPE and isolation protocols required
- Must be able to assist with BiPAP, CPAP, and high-flow oxygen therapy and manage surgical wounds and drains
- Candidates must be able to complete fit testing; inability to pass fit testing will disqualify candidates
- Pre-employment modules (3 hours) required before start
- Holiday coverage required during contract
- Two professional references required at time of consideration
- No accommodation for block scheduling or for candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility
- Active VA or compact RN license in hand at the time of consideration
- Two years of recent CVICU or CTICU experience required
- Current BLS, ACLS (AHA only), and NIHSS certifications required
- Epic proficiency is mandatory
- Strong neuro experience, including post-brain surgery care and EVD/ventriculostomy, required
- Experience with advanced cardiac devices: IABP, Impella, and Swan Ganz
- Must pass a basic EKG test with a score of 80% or higher on the first attempt
- Must not have any prior license or background hits
- Driver’s License required for address verification and permanent address must be outside a 50-mile radius from the facility
