The Water Treatment Plant Maintenance Lead is responsible for overseeing maintenance operations, managing staff, and ensuring the safe and efficient functioning of water treatment facilities. This role combines hands-on technical work with leadership duties including preventive maintenance, troubleshooting mechanical and electrical systems, and compliance with safety and regulatory standards. The position requires experience in maintenance operations, strong mechanical knowledge, and the ability to manage budgets and emergency responses.
The Water Treatment Plant Maintenance Lead will oversee maintenance operations, manage staff, and ensure the safe and efficient functioning of water treatment facilities. This role requires both hands-on technical expertise and strong leadership to maintain equipment, Mentorship to personnel, and comply with safety and regulatory standards.
Water Treatment Plant Maintenance Lead Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules and procedures.
- Supervise maintenance staff, ensuring safety and quality standards are met.
- Conduct inspections and assessments to identify necessary repairs.
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and instrumentation systems.
- Assist with manual maintenance work related to plant operations, pumping stations, and storage tanks.
- Manage maintenance budgets, including forecasting costs and coordinating with contractors.
- Provide 24-hour on-call emergency response for maintenance needs.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations, EPD standards, and departmental policies.
- Maintain accurate records and review equipment history files.
- Foster communication between production and maintenance teams.
Water Treatment Plant Maintenance Lead Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (technical training or certifications preferred).
- Valid State of Georgia Driver’s License required.
- 4+ years of maintenance operations experience, with proven leadership in supervising teams.
- Knowledge of water treatment, distribution, and facility maintenance procedures.
- Strong understanding of mechanical trade practices, tools, and safety regulations.
- Ability to perform both supervisory and hands-on maintenance duties.
- Must successfully pass background check, drug screen, and physical exam.
