Job DescriptionThe Respiratory Therapist provides quality patient care through intensive respiratory care and patient transport as medically prescribed, under minimal supervision. Evaluates patients and recommends treatment plans, while also educating patients on the purpose and procedures of treatments and tests during discharge. Operates various ventilatory equipment, both invasive and non-invasive, to administer prescribed medications, humidification, ventilation, and oxygen. Performs chest physiotherapy and suctioning by various methods, conducts oximetry and capnography monitoring, and assists with physician-prescribed procedures. Responsible for maintaining accurate respiratory therapy records and ensuring effective communication with physicians regarding therapy efficiency.
Responsibilities- Administer and monitor respiratory treatments and procedures as prescribed.
- Conduct pulmonary function studies and perform routine assessments.
- Assist in emergency procedures related to respiratory care.
- Educate patients and families about respiratory health and treatment plans.
- Document all pertinent information in patient charts and respiratory care records.
- Maintain and troubleshoot ventilatory and respiratory equipment.
The candidate must have an active Respiratory Care license and relevant certifications as required in the state of practice.
