The Point of Care Coordinator manages and supports point-of-care testing conducted by non-laboratory staff within clinical laboratories, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. The role involves developing and maintaining quality programs adhering to good laboratory and manufacturing practices. Candidates must hold relevant certifications and have a strong background in clinical laboratory testing and advanced computer skills.
POSITION SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES
Assists in the development, implementation, evaluation and coordination of all aspects of point-of-care testing performed by non-laboratory staff, and regulatory compliance in the Clinical laboratories. Maintains, monitors and supports the achievement of effective quality programs to guarantee a safe and efficacious quality laboratory testing utilizing good laboratory practices and good manufacturing practices.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree in medical technology or an appropriate biological medical science is required. May substitute a Bachelor's degree in business administration, healthcare administration, or related field with a minimum of 5 years of experience in clinical laboratory testing. Must have successfully completed a structured clinical program (CAHEA approved). Minimum of two years experience in Laboratory testing is required. Experience with advanced computer skills required (Access, Excel and other spreadsheet and Microsoft applications).
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION
Certification by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) or National Certification Agency (NCA) or equivalent is required.
