American Traveler is seeking an experienced Operating Room RN with at least 2 years of acute OR experience and strong skills in ortho, spine, robotics, and sports medicine for variable 12-hour day shifts.
Responsibilities- Position is based in a hospital operating room at a Level III Trauma Center
- 12 ORs (including a hybrid), with 40-50 cases handled daily
- Patient population includes adults and minimal pediatrics (typically ENT cases)
- Primary cases include ENT, general surgery, ortho (including spine and total joints), gyn, vascular, urology, and podiatry
- No open heart, transplants, or major neuro procedures performed
- Shift is 12-hour days with variable start times (0630, 0830, or 1030)
- Occasional weekend shifts are required as determined by department needs
- On-call is required: 4-6 shifts per 6-week schedule, including nights and weekends
- 30-minute response time required during call shifts
- Use of Epic charting system, Alaris, and Pyxis equipment is expected
- Floating to inpatient areas without patient assignment may occur if OR census is low
- RNs are responsible for circulating in various surgical cases as outlined
- Occasional floating to other inpatient areas for supportive tasks without administering medications
- Scrubs are provided by the hospital
- Rest and meal breaks are structured according to shift length
- No sleep rooms available for on-call
- Orientation includes NEO, access setup, and unit-specific training
- Must take all scheduled breaks during each shift
- Up to 5 days of requested time off may be approved; missed days must be made up at the end of contract
- Active WA or compact RN license required
- Minimum 2 years of recent acute/inpatient OR RN experience
- Current BLS certification required
- Strong skills in ortho (including total joints), spine, sports medicine, and robotics (DaVinci)
- Circulating experience in a broad range of adult surgical cases
- Epic EMR experience required for certain roles
- COVID-19 vaccination required
- Rhythm exam required prior to arrival
- First-time travelers are not accepted
