American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN for night shifts with floating and telemetry competencies, requiring an active MA RN license and critical care certifications.
Responsibilities- Position is in a hospital-based 20-bed Medical/Surgical Intensive Care Unit within a Level III Trauma Center
- Night shift schedule from 19:00 to 07:30 with every other weekend required
- Floating to Med/Surg units is required, with possible assignment of up to 4 or 5 patients when floated
- Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:2 or 1:1 in the ICU, and 1:4 or 1:5 when floated to Med/Surg
- Patient population includes adults with diverse diagnoses such as substance abuse, psychiatric conditions, DKA, sepsis, GI bleeds, respiratory failure, cardiac arrest, renal failure, and cardiogenic shock
- ICU staffed 24/7 with attendings and residents present
- Uses Epic EMR for all charting requirements
- Responsibilities include managing critically ill adult patients with a variety of complex medical and surgical diagnoses
- Must be comfortable floating to medical-surgical units and adapting to varying patient loads
- Local candidates must reside at least 60 miles from Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston
- Time-off requests must be declared at the time of consideration
- Scrub or dress code will be provided by the hospital upon assignment
- First-time travelers are not specified; orientation provided as per hospital protocol
- Parking is not validated at Boston area locations and may incur a daily cost; public transport options are available
- Active Massachusetts RN license required at the time of consideration; MA conditional licenses not accepted
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications from AHA are mandatory
- Minimum of 3 years general ICU experience, with at least 2 years of continuous work in one location, preferably in a MICU
- Must demonstrate competency in reading telemetry strips
- Flu and COVID vaccines are required with no exemptions permitted
