Perm - Medical Director - Neonatology
Join a full-time, dedicated team of neonatologists at a regional perinatal center in Roanoke, VA. The practice includes a 60-bed NICU and offers the opportunity to engage in advanced neonatology while enjoying the vibrant small-town lifestyle surrounded by the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains.
Job Responsibilities
- Provide expert neonatal care at Carilion Clinic Children s Hospital and Lewis Gale Medical Center.
- Manage and lead NICU operations as Medical Director or participate as Associate Medical Director.
- Oversee advanced NICU services including high-frequency ventilation, whole body cooling, and nitric oxide therapy.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary pediatric and maternal-fetal medicine specialists.
- Support medical education initiatives with students and residents.
- Engage in quality improvement initiatives and participate in research.
- Provide clinical coverage, including day shifts, on-call, and weekend duties as needed.
- Maintain compliance with hospital policies and participate in leadership meetings.
- This is a permanent, full-time position requiring residency in the local area.
Qualifications
- Board Eligible (within 5 years of residency) or Board Certified in Neonatology.
- Neonatal leadership experience required for the Medical Director role.
- Clean malpractice and medical license history (highly preferred).
- Must be eligible for a Virginia medical license or willing to obtain one.
- Willingness to relocate if not already in the area.
- DEA must be obtained prior to start.
License and Certification Requirements
- Board Certified (BC) or Board Eligible (BE) in Neonatology.
- Virginia medical license or willingness to obtain.
- Clean malpractice history is highly preferred.
- DEA registration required before starting.
