2nd Shift Optics Fabrication Technician

Location: Boulder, CO
Pay: $22–$26/hour (DOE)
Type: Temp-to-Hire

Shifts Available
• Monday–Thursday: 3:30 PM – 2:00 AM
• Sunday–Thursday: 2:00 PM – 10:30 PM
• Sunday–Wednesday: 3:30 PM – 2:00 AM
• Wednesday–Saturday: 3:30 PM – 2:00 AM
• Tuesday–Saturday: 2:00 PM – 10:30 PM


About the Role
This hands-on role focuses on fabricating precision optical components from start to finish. You’ll work with grinding, polishing, blocking, curve generation, and other fabrication processes to meet strict customer specifications. It’s an ideal role for someone who enjoys craftsmanship-driven work, has strong attention to detail, and wants long-term career growth. This temp-to-hire opportunity also provides cross-training and potential leadership pathways.

What You’ll Do
• Fabricate precision optical components from initial print through final product
• Perform beveling, milling, blocking, grinding, polishing, curve generation, and inspections
• Ensure all work meets customer and quality requirements
• Conduct detailed measurements and in-process quality checks
• Follow established procedures and documentation standards
• Monitor fabrication conditions such as Baume and pH
• Maintain clean and organized work areas
• Perform advanced blocking and polishing, including single test plate work
• Maintain tight tolerances and wedge control for high-quality finishes
• Identify opportunities to improve fabrication steps or workflows
• Mentor junior technicians and assist with training
• Take on project or process leadership as skills grow
• Support additional departmental tasks as needed

What You Bring
• High School Diploma or GED required
• Experience in optics or fabrication preferred; QA/inspection experience a plus
• Strong reliability, attention to detail, and commitment to precision
• Ability to collaborate effectively with team members
• Interest in building a long-term career in optical fabrication or precision manufacturing
