Level 1 Registered Nurse - Psychiatric Emergency Room
Assignment DurationThis is a 13-week contract position.
Schedule3x12.0 rotating schedule including day, evening, and night shifts. Will include holidays and on-call/callback duties.
Job DescriptionThe Level 1 Registered Nurse in the Psychiatric Emergency Room is responsible for delivering high-quality nursing care to patients with psychiatric emergencies. The role involves conducting intake assessments, planning and providing nursing care, and consulting with psychiatrists on treatment plans. The RN will administer medications, document patient information, and maintain patient confidentiality while ensuring a safe environment for both staff and patients.
Responsibilities- Conduct intake assessments through interviews with patients and relatives to gather case history.
- Plan and provide nursing care for patients based on assessments.
- Make nursing diagnoses of the medical and emotional status of patients and recommend treatment options.
- Consult with psychiatrists and other behavioral health staff to design appropriate treatment plans.
- Administer psychotropic drugs and other medications, noting patient reactions.
- Arrange further medical attention when necessary.
- Assist clients in understanding their emotional disturbances and the need for treatment.
- Maintain a safe and secure environment for staff and patients.
- Document all patient information on medical charts and follow physician's orders.
- Perform administrative tasks including filing and completing progress notes in the computer system.
- Provide high-quality service to patients and respond to service requests appropriately.
- New York RN License required.
- BLS Certification from the American Heart Association required.
- Minimum of two years of experience in a relevant setting required.
- CPI certification required.
