The Anesthesiology Physician provides anesthetic care primarily in obstetrics, orthopedics, and general surgery within a high-volume operating room and labor & delivery setting. The role requires board certification or eligibility, experience in OB anesthesia including labor epidurals and emergency C-sections, and involves call coverage. The position focuses on standard surgical anesthesia cases in a collaborative, team-based environment at a Level III trauma center.
Coverage Need:
Full-time or at least 2 weeks per month
MUST take call
Ongoing need until permanent replacements are secured
Privileges: Temporary privileges available for clean files
Board Status: Board Certified or Board Eligible
Experience Requirements:
Must have OB anesthesia experience, including labor epidurals and unscheduled C-sections
Must meet all listed parameters for submission
Description of Work:
Cover bread-and-butter surgical cases as the primary anesthesiologist
High volume in orthopedics and general surgery
Includes OB call; assignments directed by the Chief/Acting Chief
Collaborative, team-based OR environment
Procedures & Surgeries:
Required: All standard surgical anesthesia (no CT, neuro, or cranial cases)
Preferred: OB/Gyn, Ortho, General Surgery, Plastics, Vascular, Colo-rectal, ENT, GI, Urology
Regional blocks for OR cases (no outpatient pain management)
Pediatrics optional (healthy children only; no high-risk peds)
Schedule:
Monday Friday, 7:00 AM 3:30 PM
Includes call coverage as agreed upon
Workload:
4 5 cases per day

Environment:
100% OR & L&D coverage (no clinic)
9 main ORs (constructed 18 years ago)
Trauma Level: Level III (ACS verified)
Staffing Structure:
15 MDs (including per diems)
2 CRNAs, anesthesia techs, PAs, nurses, OR techs
