Locum Tenens Opportunity: Gastroenterologist Near Startex, SC

We are seeking a skilled Gastroenterologist for a locum tenens position near Startex, SC. Position Overview:

• Profession: Physician

• Shift Details:
  • Monday through Friday: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
  • No after-hours or weekend call required
  • On-call rotation: Each provider rotates hospital call every other week
• Work Details:
  • Outpatient: Morning clinic hours with an average daily census of 14 patients
  • Inpatient: Afternoon hospital rounds for consults and procedures as necessary

Practice Setting:

• Environment:
  • Work alongside 1 physician and 2 mid-level providers
  • Supported by a team of 2 Certified Medical Assistants (CMAs), 2 Registered Nurses (RNs), 2 registration staff members, and 1 office supervisor
  • Office does not have on-site lab or X-ray facilities
  • Requires both outpatient and inpatient experience
• Procedures:
  • Upper GI Endoscopy:
    • With biopsy
    • With foreign body removal
    • With fulguration of bleeder (cautery vs. laser)
    • With banding of varices
    • With PEG (preferred)
  • Esophageal dilatation/manometry
  • Small bowel biopsy
  • Lower GI endoscopy:
    • Sigmoidoscopy
    • Colonoscopy with biopsy and polyp excision
  • Equipment: Pill camera available for procedures

Requirements:

• Board Certification:
  • Must be board-certified in Gastroenterology
• Licensure:
  • Active South Carolina medical license required, but willing to license the right candidate
• Certifications:
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) required
  • DEA license required
  • South Carolina Controlled Substance Registration (CSR) required
• Experience:
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in Gastroenterology required
  • Proficiency with EPIC charting system is essential

  • Travel and lodging expenses may be covered depending on the contract terms
  • Flexibility to start immediately is preferred, though the credentialing process may take some time
