The Cardiac Sonographer operates ultrasound equipment to conduct diagnostic exams and invasive procedures across all patient age groups, ensuring compliance with medical standards. They must possess knowledge of anatomy and pathology while effectively communicating with medical staff and radiologists. Certification by recognized bodies is required within six months of employment to provide quality patient care in a hospital setting.
Responsibilities:
RESPONSIBLE FOR:
Operates ultrasound equipment to perform clinical diagnostic ultrasound exams and routine invasive procedures according to established standards and practices. Provides patient services utilizing ultrasound equipment. Demonstrates knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy and pathology. Provides patient care to all age groups to include neonatal, pediatrics, adult, and geriatrics. Communicates effectively with staff and radiologists.
Qualifications:
MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED:
Graduate of an AMA approved Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
None, must become certified by ARDMS or ARRT or CCI within 6-month of employment.
MINIMUM LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED BY LAW:
None
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
BLS certified.
Registered ARDMS, or ARRT and/or RVS/RVT (Registered Vascular Specialist) preferred.
