American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an ICU position in a mixed acuity unit, requiring at least 1 year of ICU experience and a ME or compact license.
Responsibilities- Work in a mixed acuity ICU within a hospital setting
- Unit has 9 ICU beds and cares for both ICU and Med Surg level patients based on acuity and census
- Patient populations include vents, sepsis, PNA, DKA, detox, CHF, COPD exacerbation, surgical complications, and occasional pediatric post-op patients
- Typical nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:3, acuity based
- Required to work 12-hour night shifts (7P-7A), with every other weekend scheduled
- Floating may occur to Med Surg (1:5 days / 1:6 nights) or ED for task assistance
- Uses Cerner EMR system
- No on-call requirements
- Care for a diverse population of critical and acute patients, including those with substance use disorders and complex post-surgical needs
- Team supported by a charge nurse, 24/7 RT, 24/7 hospitalist, and intensivist consults
- Centralized telemetry monitoring available
- General and unit-specific orientation provided, including online modules and one on-unit shift
- Charge training provided as required based on staffing needs
- Professional scrubs required; any color permitted
- Free parking is available
- Holiday coverage required as needed
- Flu vaccination required for all assignments starting after 9/30/2024, with only medical exemptions considered
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Active ME or compact RN license required
- Minimum of 2 years total nursing experience, with at least 1 year in ICU
- Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required
- Willingness to be trained as Charge RN and fulfill charge duties as needed
- Experience with vents, chest tubes, trachs, drains, wound vacs, IVs, PCAs, epidurals (rare), CVP, A-Lines, insulin drips, and cardiac gtts
- Ability to read and interpret EKG strips for ICU and Med Surg patients
- Candidates must not have worked in any Northern Light Health hospital as a permanent employee
- Permanent address must be at least 100 miles south or southwest of EMMC
