This locum tenens position is for a board-certified Emergency Medicine Physician to provide clinical coverage in a hospital emergency department in Morgan City, Louisiana. The role requires managing adult and pediatric patients in a Level 3 trauma center with a busy patient volume and support from specialty backup and advanced practice providers. Candidates must hold an active Louisiana medical license, relevant board certification, required certifications, and a minimum of two years of emergency medicine experience.
JOB OVERVIEW Job Title: Physician Emergency Medicine (ABEM, AOBEM, ABFM, ABIM) Job Type: Locum Tenens Location: Morgan City, LA Service Setting: Hospital Emergency Department Coverage Type: Clinical Only Coverage Period: ASAP 12 months Clinical Shift Schedule: Physicians: 6a6p; 6p6a NP/PA: 9a9p (ThursSun); 8a6p & 12p10p (MonWed) On-Call Shift Schedule: Not Included PATIENT INFORMATION Patient Demographics: Adults & Pediatrics Patient Volume/Census: 60/day ( 22,000 annually) % EMS: 10.3 Admissions: 6.6% FACILITY INFORMATION No. of Beds in Department: 12 ED beds Trauma Level: 3 EMR System: Ochsner EPIC Support Staff Available: NP/PA coverage (10 hrs, 4 days/week) Specialty Backup Available: ENT, Pediatrics, Cardiology, Orthopedics, IM, Radiology, FP, Pathology, Surgery, Pulmonology, Oncology, Hematology Reason for Coverage: 3 Full-Time MDs Needed PRIVILEGES & COMPLIANCE Hospital Privileges Required: Yes Credentialing Timeline: 4560 days (with clean file) Compliance Requirements: Flu and other immunizations required Onboarding Requirements: EMR training followed by orientation JOB REQUIREMENTS Licenses: Active Louisiana State Medical License and DEA Board: BC in EM, FM, or IM (minimum 2 years EM experience) Certifications: ATLS, ACLS, PALS, BLS Experience: Minimum 2 years of Emergency Medicine experience Residency Training: EM, FM, or IM
