The Travel Pathologists' Assistant is responsible for examining, preparing, and dissecting surgical pathology specimens, as well as performing postmortem examinations under supervision. This role requires ASCP certification, a bachelor's degree (master’s preferred), and a minimum of two years of relevant experience, working 40 hours per week on a travel contract basis. The position is based in Pittsfield, MA at a nationally recognized teaching hospital with strong emphasis on patient safety and accurate specimen management.

The Pathologists’ Assistant is responsible for:
- Gross examination, preparation, description, and dissection of surgical pathology specimens
- Performing postmortem examinations under the supervision of pathologist(s)
- Ensuring accuracy in specimen collection, labeling, and documentation
- Independently organizing, scheduling, and planning daily workload
- Working efficiently and accurately under stress and during emergency situations
- Utilizing HIS/LIS systems and laboratory instrumentation relevant to the role
- (PA) ASCP Certification – REQUIRED
Equivalent certifications will NOT be accepted - Bachelor’s Degree REQUIRED (Master’s preferred)
- Minimum 2 years of Pathology Assistant experience
- Strong knowledge of HIS/LIS systems
- Ability to work extended hours when needed
- Must have own reliable vehicle
- Local candidates within 50 miles of the facility will NOT be considered
- Permanent address must be included at profile upload
- Schedule accommodations will NOT be considered
- All RTO must be declared at time of submission
- No more than 5 days of RTO (less preferred)
- RTO requests after submission or offer will NOT be approved
- Late RTO requests may result in a rescinded offer
