A Board-Certified Family or Internal Medicine Physician with occupational health experience will provide outpatient work-related medical evaluations and employee health services for state transportation personnel in New Jersey. The role involves conducting physicals, injury assessments, fit-for-duty exams, and minor procedures in a solo provider setting, with no hospital or inpatient duties. The assignment is temporary, scheduled Monday through Thursday, with a focus on compliance with DOT and OSHA standards and collaboration with HR and safety teams.
One of our Partners in New Jersey is seeking a Board-Certified Family Medicine or Internal Medicine Physician with Occupational Health experience to provide locum coverage during a provider medical leave. This outpatient role focuses on occupational medicine, work-related evaluations, and employee health services for state transportation personnel.
The provider will work a consistent daytime schedule, four days per week, in a solo physician setting. There is no call, no hospital rounding, and no inpatient responsibilities.
Estimated Total Assignment Earnings: ? $56,000
Pay Ranking: Top 15% nationally for 2025 occupational health locum rates
Coverage Dates: December 8, 2025 - January 23, 2026 (possible extension)
Schedule: Monday-Thursday 8:00a - 2:00p (6-hour days)
Setting: Outpatient Occupational Health Clinic (no hospital privileges required)
Volume: 10-15 patients per day
Scope:
Post-offer medical clearance exams
Evaluation and management of workplace injuries
Fit-for-duty exams
DOT and return-to-work assessments
EKG, PFT, wound care, and possible suturing
Call: None
Support: No APP support (solo provider role)
EMR: Facility proprietary system (orientation provided)
Credentialing: Streamlined, no hospital privileges needed
Joint Commission-certified agency assignment through HPA Healthcare
Conduct employee physicals, injury evaluations, and workplace health exams
Perform medical reviews, clearances, and fit-for-duty assessments per NJTA policy
Complete and certify MRO-related documentation as required
Provide wound care, suturing, and minor procedures when necessary
Document all encounters in the EMR accurately and timely
Collaborate with HR and safety personnel regarding workplace health issues
Maintain compliance with DOT and OSHA medical examination standards
Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care consistent with occupational health best practices
Board-Certified in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine
Active New Jersey medical license required
MRO (Medical Review Officer) certification required
Minimum 2 years of occupational health or urgent care experience
Proficient in EKG, PFT, and basic wound management
Familiarity with DOT physical and return-to-work evaluation processes
