Portneuf Medical Center in Pocatello, Idaho, is seeking a qualified and experienced Pediatric Medical Director to lead our hospitalist program. This is a rare opportunity to provide clinical and administrative leadership at a well-established facility renowned for quality patient care and a collaborative work environment.
Position Overview:
The Pediatric Hospitalist Medical Director will oversee the pediatric inpatient services, coordinate clinical care, and lead a dedicated team of pediatric providers. The role involves clinical responsibilities, administrative leadership, and opportunities for academic collaboration, all within a supportive hospital setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive medical care for pediatric patients admitted to the hospital.
- Lead and supervise a team of hospitalist physicians and advanced practice providers.
- Consult on pediatric cases in the emergency department and manage surgical patient cases as needed.
- Collaborate with the sister program at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center (30 minutes away) for specialty consultations and interdisciplinary coordination.
- Participate in hospital committees, quality improvement initiatives, and patient safety efforts.
- Facilitate staff training, mentoring, and ongoing professional development for clinical team members.
- Maintain compliance with hospital policies, accreditation standards, and licensing requirements.
- Opportunities to hold a faculty appointment with Idaho College of Osteopathic Medicine.
Qualifications:
- Board Certification in Pediatrics.
- Minimum of 1 year of leadership experience in a hospital or comparable healthcare setting.
- Proven pediatric clinical expertise with excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to lead, motivate, and influence multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong organizational and administrative capabilities.
- J1 visa sponsorship accepted; candidates must be eligible for licensing in Idaho.
Schedule:
- 7 days on, 7 days off schedule with hospital rounds, primarily based at Portneuf Medical Center.
- On-call responsibilities from home, providing flexibility and work-life balance.
