Our job summary

This position is for an Obstetrics and Gynecology physician assistant (PA) providing 24-hour call coverage in a hospital setting, including rounding and surgical procedures such as cesarean deliveries and circumcisions. The PA supports midwives and maternal fetal medicine (MFM) physicians, handling complex labor and delivery cases and providing consultation as needed. The role involves variable on-site time, averaging under six hours, with comprehensive hospital and office support and use of EPIC electronic medical records.

Requirements Coverage:OBGYN24hr Call Coverage7a-7a, to include up to 4 hours daily rounding. In-House Call: NOPrefer a reasonable all-inclusive rate. Dates:*****December 24-30****January 20, 22March 17April 22OngoingPhysician is not required to be on-site while providing Call Support. Situations when the on-call locum OB would be called to the hospital*:- If there is a patient with prior cesarean in labor trying to have a vaginal delivery. - To round on patients who had cesarean and on Antepartum patients only if no MFM is on call- If called by the Midwives (CNM), the Emergency Department or a consulting physician- Maternal transport from outside facility Physicians do not need to round on other OB patients being managed by the CNM or sign-off on the care the CNM are providing unless the patients fall into the categories listed above. CNM have prescribing authority and can oversee deliveries with epidurals. The physician would not need to oversee or sign off (other than the anesthesiologist).Expectations of amount of time in the hospital:The average call back from the CNM or ED is variable and depends on the circumstances. We communicated the following averages based on their request to provide. -Consultation less than 90 minutes-D & C one hour-Laparoscopy/cesarean could be up to two hours.-Trial of labor on a prior cesarean, the physician would stay until they deliver.**Average time onsite would generally not exceed six hoursWhat support staff is available - Full office staff, special delivery staff in hospitalAge of patients - AllInpatient /Outpatient -bothType of Charting /EMR - EPICCall structure: One Midwife, One OB/GYN, and one MFM Scope of Services required: Circumcisions and Tubal Ligation C-Section Deliveries OB/GYN surgical procedures Operative Vaginal Delivery Circumcisions
