Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an RN for a Pediatric Stepdown position requiring a DC RN license and experience with medically complex pediatric patients.
Responsibilities
- Work in a pediatric stepdown unit within a pediatric rehabilitation and specialized inpatient/skilled nursing facility
- Care for medically complex pediatric patients
- Typical pediatric inpatient and skilled nursing ratios depending on census
- Day shifts (3x12 hours), 7:00–19:30
- Occasional weekend shifts based on facility need
- Floating required to similar pediatric rehab, inpatient, or SNF units
- Cerner charting system is used
- Provide stepdown level care for pediatric patients with complex medical conditions
- May supervise assistive personnel including CNAs, LPNs, or PCAs as needed
- Orientation/onboarding includes over 20 hours of training
- Scrubs of any color may be worn (no logos; child-friendly only)
- No on-call requirements
- Local candidates accepted
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Maximum 1 week of requested time off is allowed; a full week must be made up by extension
Requirements
- Active DC RN license required prior to start; pending license accepted with proof
- 1–2 years of nursing experience required
- Pediatric nursing experience preferred
- BLS/CPR certification required
- CPN or pediatric rehab certification preferred
- Strong assessment and communication skills are essential
- Experience supervising CNAs, LPNs, or PCAs is preferred
