Position Summary:
The PICU Registered Nurse provides specialized, high-level nursing care to critically ill infants, children, and adolescents in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment. This role involves comprehensive assessment, continuous monitoring, and management of complex medical conditions including respiratory failure, sepsis, trauma, neurological disorders, cardiac conditions, and post-operative recovery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer medications, blood products, and IV therapies including titratable drips and continuous infusions.
- Interpret laboratory values, diagnostic tests, EKGs, and imaging to guide clinical decision-making.
- Provide post-operative care for pediatric cardiac, neurological, trauma, and general surgery patients.
- Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, and the multidisciplinary team to create and implement individualized care plans.
- Communicate clearly and compassionately with families, providing education and emotional support during critical situations.
- Participate in rounds and contribute to clinical decision-making with evidence-based recommendations.
- Ensure safe and accurate handoff reports between shifts and care teams.
Required Experience:
- 2 years’ experience as an RN in pediatric critical care.
- NICU hospital experience preferred.
- Children’s hospital experience preferred.
