American Traveler is seeking a Med/Surg Tele RN with at least 1 year of experience, IL RN license, and the ability to work night shifts with adult and geriatric patients.
Responsibilities- Work in the Med/Surg Telemetry unit of an acute medical hospital
- Care for acutely ill adult and geriatric patients requiring telemetry monitoring for non-acute cardiac conditions
- Average daily census is 16-18 with 24 beds and night shift nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:5
- Perform EKG rhythm identification, non-titrating cardiac drips, advanced medication infusion without increase in titration, and pre- and post-procedure care
- Shifts are three 12-hour nights (19:00-07:30), Monday through Friday with no weekends or call required
- Floating is required within the service line and scope of practice
- Utilizes the Epic EMR; Epic experience is preferred
- Provide care to adult and geriatric medical or surgical patients, including those with infectious diseases and telemetry needs
- Responsible for neurological assessment and care of acute ischemic stroke and TIA patients
- No care required for active GI bleeding, uncontrolled ischemic chest pain, continuous NPPV, TNK, insulin, neosynephrine, or nipride infusions
- First-time travelers are accepted for this unit
- Navy scrubs are required
- A maximum of 7 days of RTO per 13-week contract is permitted and none in the first week of orientation
- Permanent employees must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
- Travelers may work up to 18 months with a 3-month break required after 18 months
- Active IL RN license required at the time of consideration (no pending licenses accepted)
- Minimum of 1 year recent RN experience in Med/Surg Telemetry or acute care setting
- Current BLS and NIHSS certifications required
- ACLS and CPI certifications preferred
- Must be able to identify EKG rhythms and manage telemetry monitoring
- Experience with Epic EMR preferred
- Candidates must reside outside a 75-mile radius; local candidates are not accepted
