Emergency Medicine Physician – South Peninsula Hospital

Location: Homer, Alaska

Position Type: Full-Time (10–12 shifts per month)

South Peninsula Hospital is looking for an Emergency Medicine Physician to join our well-supported, single-coverage emergency department. This role offers a balanced schedule, strong clinical resources, and the opportunity to practice broad-spectrum emergency care in one of the most stunning communities in Alaska.

Compensation and Benefits
  • Compensation: $267/hr ($384,380 - $461,376 annually)
  • Typical FTE: 10–12 twelve-hour shifts per month

Schedule & Call
  • 12-hour shifts with single physician coverage
  • Standard rotation alternates one month of day shifts with one month of night shifts to support consistent sleep cycles
  • No call beyond scheduled shifts
Scope of Practice
  • Full-spectrum emergency care within a 9-bed ED
  • Access to a complete radiology suite: MRI, CT, ultrasound, and X-ray
  • Onsite radiology coverage during weekday business hours
Support Staff & Team
  • Strong ED team with experienced nursing, CNA, and HUC support
  • Department staffed by 6 full-time ED physicians and 2–4 PRN clinicians for additional coverage
  • Collaborative environment with stable staffing and leadership support
Qualifications
  • Board certified or board eligible in Emergency Medicine
  • Will also consider Family Medicine physicians with extensive emergency medicine experience
  • Eligibility for Alaska medical licensure
