Title: Occupational Therapist (OT) – Acute Care
Location: Amarillo, TX
Duration: 13 weeks
Shift: Day Shift – 5x8-Hour (08:00 – 17:00)
Evaluate and treat adult and geriatric patients in an acute care hospital setting
Develop and implement individualized occupational therapy treatment plans
Provide therapy focused on improving activities of daily living, mobility, and functional independence
Treat patients with orthopedic conditions including hip and knee replacements, fractures, arthritis, and soft tissue injuries
Perform upper and lower extremity rehabilitation, including hand injury treatment
Assist patients with adaptive techniques, feeding strategies, and functional mobility training
Utilize therapeutic modalities such as electrical stimulation, ultrasound, TENS, edema massage, and biofeedback as appropriate
Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams to support patient care goals
Document evaluations, treatments, and patient progress accurately in the electronic medical record
Maintain compliance with hospital policies, safety standards, and professional practice guidelines
Minimum of 1 year of experience as an Occupational Therapist in an acute care or hospital setting
Experience treating orthopedic and post-surgical patients
Knowledge of prosthetics and orthotics, including upper and lower extremity prosthetics
Strong clinical assessment, treatment planning, and patient education skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team
Effective communication and time-management skills
NBCOT – National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (required, active)
BLS – Basic Life Support (required, active)
