Job Description
The Registered Nurse – Surgical Specialty provides high-quality nursing care to post-surgical transplant patients in a mixed stepdown and acute care setting. This role focuses on caring for kidney, liver, and pancreas transplant patients, as well as individuals undergoing pre-transplant evaluation. Patients require close monitoring for infection, rejection, and timely medication administration. This is not a PACU position.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to post-surgical and pre-transplant patients
- Monitor patients for signs of infection, organ rejection, and complications
- Administer medications, IV infusions, and blood products as ordered
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments and document care accurately
- Assist physicians with examinations and minor procedures
- Educate patients and families on care plans and discharge instructions
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and delegate tasks appropriately
Requirements
- Active RN license (Oklahoma or multistate compact)
- Minimum 1 year of RN experience
- Stepdown/PCU experience required
- Travel experience required
- Transplant experience preferred
- BLS certification required
Education
- Associate Degree in Nursing (required)
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (preferred)
