American Traveler is seeking a Registered Nurse for a PCU/Telemetry role in a corrections oncology environment, requiring an active OH or compact RN license and EPIC charting experience.
Responsibilities- Work in a locked PCU/corrections unit providing care to Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections inmates
- Patient population includes active oncology, hematology, and various medical-surgical diagnoses
- Nurse to patient ratio is 1:3 for PCU and 1:4-5 for medical-surgical shifts
- Will float between Oncology Medical-Surgical and PCU units as needed
- Day and night 12-hour rotating shifts available, with scheduling reviewed every 4 weeks
- Weekend shifts required as determined by unit needs
- Uses Pyxis medication system and EPIC for documentation
- Responsibilities include medication administration, management of central and peripheral lines, blood product administration, and interpretation of ABGs
- Care for patients requiring cardiac monitoring, IV insulin protocols, renal failure management, respiratory interventions (including CPAP/BIPAP, HFNC, and trach management), and post-surgical care
- Work in a secure environment with a high focus on staff safety
- Support available from pharmacy, physical therapy, radiology, respiratory, and social services
- Recent oncology experience is preferred but not required
- Must adhere to department procedures for rapid response and emergency care
- Locals are accepted at the same rate as travelers
- RTO (time off) must be built into the contract at the time of consideration
- Current employees are not eligible to work as travelers at any Ohio State University hospital location
- Active Ohio or compact RN license required at time of consideration
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
- Graduation from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program required
- EPIC charting experience required
- Medical-Surgical/Telemetry skills required
- Ability to interpret and manage dysrhythmias
- Willingness to float to various units, including oncology and corrections
- Must provide two professional references, with at least one from a formal leadership role
- Candidates must complete Ohio fingerprinting promptly after contract signing
- Former employees must have a break of six months before consideration
