Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED, familiarity with computers, and the ability to work safely under diverse conditions involving noise, chemicals, and confined spaces.

The Shop Mechanic repairs automotive as well as heavy duty diesel plant and quarry mobile equipment.

Compensation
Hourly $46.30
Responsibilities
- Disassembles and overhauls engines, transmissions, clutches, rear ends and other assemblies on diesel/gasoline motorized equipment
- Grinds valves, adjusts brakes, aligns wheels, straightens frames and repairs fuel pumps
- Performs welding, brazing, cutting or fabricating on engine powered equipment
- Maintains air conditioning units on all mobile equipment
- Performs repairs and troubleshooting in mobile equipment electrical systems
- Maintains cleanliness in areas of facility
- Performs other duties as assigned
Education
High school diploma/GED
Requirements/Qualifications
- Familiarity with computers
- Knowledge of hazards associated with areas of responsibilities
- Ability to sit, stand, stoop, lift up to 70 lbs., and bend for extended periods of time (up to 8 hours)
- Walk on all types of surfaces (uneven and/or slippery ground); ability to climb on equipment
- Must be able to walk long distances, climb ladders, stairs, and stockpiles, stoop, and crawl under and into enclosed spaces
- Must work in all weather conditions: heat, cold, wet, dry and/or dusty conditions and near hot kiln process
- Will have exposure to all levels of noise that require use of hearing protection
- Exposure to various chemicals; see MSDS for more details
- Ability to work in surroundings that include heat, dust, vibration, heights and confined spaces
- Knowledge of all types of equipment used in the manufacturing of aggregate preferred
Conditions of Employment
Successful candidate must submit to post-offer pre-employment physical examination, drug/alcohol screen, and background check. Some positions require FMCSA regulated on-going drug and alcohol testing.
