Job Description
American Traveler is seeking a Registered Nurse for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position requiring EPIC charting experience and an active OH or compact RN license.
Responsibilities
- Work in a secured corrections unit for the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections inmates
- Assignments in both PCU and Oncology Medical-Surgical units as needed
- Nurse to patient ratio is 1:3 in PCU and 1:4-5 in Medical-Surgical units
- Patient population includes oncology, medical-surgical, and non-oncology diagnoses
- Utilizes EPIC for documentation and Pyxis for medication management
- Rotating 12-hour day and night shifts with shift assignment reviews every 4 weeks
- Weekend shift schedule varies by department requirements
- Responsibilities include patient assessment, cardiac monitoring, medication administration, and management of complex medical conditions
- Must adhere to strict security protocols in a locked corrections unit with corrections officers present
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including pharmacy, respiratory therapy, and rapid response teams
- Unit-based resources include interpretation, radiology, and social services
- Scrub and dress code requirements to be provided during orientation
Requirements
- Active OH or compact RN license required
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
- EPIC charting experience required
- Medical-Surgical and telemetry skills required
- Experience with IV therapy, blood product administration, and specialty equipment such as CPAP/BIPAP and high flow nasal cannula
- Oncology experience preferred but not required
